Description
Mineha is a ten-year-old Fairial (妖精 / fairy) girl who first appears in chapter 48 when she joins the Thunder Fang (雷撃の牙) party for a dungeon expedition on the orders of her master. Standing only about as tall as a human's head, she has long orange hair partly braided, four semi-transparent wings on her back (which do not flap and seem unrelated to her hovering), and honey-colored eyes. She wears red clothing with light armor and a flower-petal-like skirt, and carries a spear (spiar). Loud, prideful, aggressive, and openly distrustful of men, she introduces herself as a genius aiming for the very top — First class — and, uniquely, became a registered explorer by special exception, making her the famous 'youngest genius explorer' whispered about in rumor.
Her master is Akusu's mother, a Second-class explorer and disciple of the witch; her own mother is a genuine First-class explorer. Mineha carries the tragic weight of a ten-year-old secret. While her mother was pregnant with her, she was struck by a curse that no Relic, elixir, legacy, or legendary could cure — save one remedy hidden in a ruined mountaintop temple-dungeon. Akusu's mother, then the closest thing to a First-class explorer, undertook that near-impossible commission and retrieved the Elixir in a sacred egg, saving both mother and unborn child at the cost of being bedridden for nearly a month. This is precisely why she could not rescue the kidnapped child Akusu at that same time — a rift Mineha and Wof help to finally heal, leading to a tearful reconciliation between Akusu and his mother.
As a Fairial, Mineha possesses an innate Relic, [Fairy's Incarnation] (【妖精の化身】), which lets her enlarge or shrink her body and equipment at will — she frequently grows to full human size when convenient. Her signature combat Relic is [Spiral] (【スパイラル】), a spinning force that pulverizes enemies and objects like an invisible drill, powerful enough to shatter monsters such as Redcaps to dust. Fiercely proud of her Relics, she comes to embrace her master's teaching that a Relic is like a tool one must cherish rather than worship — a philosophy she passes on to Wof, softening her initial contempt for him.
Over the story Mineha effectively moves in with Wof, at first illegally occupying his watchtower and then becoming an open freeloader/housemate. She bonds closely with the creature Dagaa (sleeping beside it, riding it, and roughly understanding what it says) and forms warm friendships with the fellow small-folk Pakira and others in Wof's growing circle such as Juicy and Riv. Though she can be haughty, quick-tempered, and quick to bite, she is genuinely loyal, and her prickly man-hating attitude is partly self-defense; she gradually becomes one of Wof's most trusted and affectionate companions.
