Pakira

Pakira is a cat-beastwoman (nekojin) and a prodigious elemental Relic user — an "Elementaria" — who serves as the brains of the third-class explorer party Torquetum, alongside its elf leader and tank Lupinus and the enigmatic swordswoman Riv. Though a full adult, she has a youthful appearance that leads others to treat her like a girl. She is introduced as a beauty with waist-length pale-green hair streaked with white, cat ears peeking from beneath a wide-brimmed hat, one eye hidden by her hair, twin white tails, a white robe over a blue coat and slit skirt, and a jewel-tipped wooden staff. She speaks in a distinctly archaic, old-fashioned manner (referring to herself as "warawa"), which lends her a scholarly, slightly aloof air.

Pakira first enters the story indirectly in chapter 9 — as an off-page voice calling for Riv — and is properly introduced in chapter 11, when the reader learns that Torquetum was wiped out by a white albino Chimera and mysteriously revived with a legendary Elixir and sent home with Pakira's stolen Return Stone. It is Pakira who deduces that their unknown savior is a "hired-child" (yatoigo) named Wof, reasoning from the fact that Riv smelled Elixir on him. Her insistence on his good character is unusually heated, because she herself was once a hired-child in a master–disciple relationship. When she and Wof finally meet (chapter 28), she cheerfully helps the boy hunt for a rare herbal encyclopedia, even buying a weapon compendium to trade for it — a display of the generosity and quiet warmth that define her relationship with him.

In battle Pakira is a formidable mage. She wields elemental magic such as the multi-projectile Fire Strike, but her signature is a demanding constraint Relic, [Mausoleum's Light], invoked through a ritual of chanting, singing and dancing that summons a devastating pillar of light capable of annihilating a monster-spawning box entirely — an effect that also briefly stops time. During the collapsed-dungeon crisis (chapter 72–75), she and the rest of Torquetum are dragged into the depths; Wof throws himself into a Black Box mimic to save her from being devoured, an act that deepens the bond between them.

Her greatest secret unfolds in the later arcs: Pakira is the near-identical double — the living image and soul-vessel — of Yomido, the goddess of the dungeon, of the so-called "cat-god race." At Yomido's request she becomes the goddess's agent ("proxy") upon the surface world. A recurring presence from her introduction all the way to the finale (through chapter 532), she is sponsored by the noble House Tasan (which funds female explorers), maintains a prickly rivalry with the fellow cat-beastwoman Juicy, and is acquainted with the dwarf blacksmith Dagaa. Beneath her calm, bookish exterior she is kind, playful, easily flustered around Wof, and fiercely protective of her comrades.
