Description
Bobbis (ボブビス) is a minor antagonist and one of the first people the protagonist Wof is forced to kill. He is a middle-aged man of unremarkable appearance — short and pot-bellied with thinning hair — whom Wof immediately pegs as a petty small-timer ("小物臭い男"). He is affiliated with Kuunhant (Coon Hunt), the largest and most notorious clan in the frontier town, and operates through the exploitative "hired-child" (雇い仔) system, keeping a trio of young thug minions in his service.
His conflict with Wof begins over money. After Wof sells scavenged goods for a good sum, three of Bobbis's boys — one of whom Wof had previously wounded at the junkyard — corner him and demand his cash, invoking the name of "Lord Bobbis, Rank IV Explorer." When Wof mocks the name and beats all three, they return two days later with Bobbis himself, who lures Wof into a back-alley dead-end intending to rob and kill him. Bobbis threatens him repeatedly and finally draws a sword, unleashing a fireball from a fire-attribute Relic.
Wof gives him three explicit chances to back down — confirmation, warning, and a final ultimatum — but Bobbis chooses to attack. Wof snuffs out the fireball, closes the distance instantly, and uses his Vanish (バニッシュ) Relic to erase everything from Bobbis's face to his right shoulder, killing him. He then kills the three minions and disposes of the bodies. Checking Bobbis's explorer tag afterward, Wof discovers the man was only Rank V — his "Rank IV" claim was a bluff. Because Bobbis and his crew had no friends, lovers, or family, their disappearance causes no stir whatsoever, as though they had never existed.
Bobbis's death echoes forward in the story. In a later chapter, a former minion working under a would-be gang boss named Piesu recognizes Wof and nervously recalls Bobbis, and much later a Rank III man named Bobbig (ボブビッグ) hunts Wof specifically to avenge Bobbis, only to be cut down as well — the Kuunhant leadership itself having marked Bobbig's faction for abusing the clan's name.
