Vanish

Vanish (【バニッシュ】) is a Relic — in this world the local analogue of magic, skills, and gifts — and the most distinctive of the four innate Relics the protagonist Wof was born with. Wof describes it as the third of his four Relics and, along with the fourth, as the one he considers most abnormal and dangerous, so he keeps its existence hidden from almost everyone. When activated, a transparent (half-translucent) sphere appears in the user's dominant palm; it cannot leave the hand and is freely resizable, from as small as a marble up to about the size of a basketball.

Its power is simple and total: Vanish erases anything it touches, causing the object to disappear outright. Wof states there is 'nothing Vanish cannot erase.' Crucially, the user has full control over what is and isn't erased — by simply picturing the intent, he can, for example, erase clothing without harming the skin beneath, or make a chest disappear while leaving its contents untouched. It has no effect on the user himself, and other people cannot see the sphere at all.

Vanish is Wof's everyday livelihood tool: he uses it to painstakingly dig 'Super-Ultra-Rare' Relics out of the Junkyard's garbage mountains without destroying the prize, to dispose of corpses and clean up battlefields, and to fight. In combat he improvises with it constantly — enchanting it onto blades ('Vanish Slash'), layering it over his knuckles to punch things out of existence ('Vanish Knuckle'), maximizing the sphere to wipe out threats, or deflecting attacks by erasing them mid-flight.

The Relic is not unique to Wof. During the Wonderland arc he encounters an enemy, the laughing Clown, who wields Vanish as well — juggling and hurling multiple Vanish spheres — though Wof judges the Clown's version to be weaker and less potent than his own. This arc also reveals a wider Vanish 'ecosystem': a Vanish-adapted Oreparts called the Vanish Knife (which erases whatever it cuts), and a powerful constraint Relic, Vanishment Line (バニッシュメントライン), whose activation conditions chain together Vanish with several of Wof's other Relics (Silent One / 静者, Generous, Phantasmagoria) and the Vanish Oreparts.
