Han Li

Han Li is the protagonist of A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality. He was born into a poor farming family in Green Ox Town, the fourth of several siblings, and especially doted on his younger sister. As a boy he was nicknamed “Second Fool,” though he was in fact the sharpest child in his village and yearned to see the wider world beyond it.

His looks are plain — average features, slightly dark skin, and a faint, calm smile that conceals his real thoughts; a “Face Setting Pill” taken early in his cultivation keeps him from aging much. In temperament he is solitary, taciturn, and collected, prizing above all a cautiousness honed by countless betrayals. He is warm to loved ones but cold, ruthless, and cunning toward his enemies.

He began his journey by entering the Seven Mysteries Sect before stepping into the world of cultivation. Burdened with “false spiritual roots” and relying on luck, rare treasures, and relentless diligence, he advanced stage by stage — mastering the Great Development Technique, the Azure Essence Sword Art, and a swarm of Gold Devouring Beetles. From a lone rogue cultivator he grew into a patriarch of the Drifting Cloud Sect and kept ascending through ever-higher realms.
