Warlock in the World of Mages

The Floating City is a colossal levitating structure, created by the magic of the Magi and used by the Academy to transport newly arrived Apprentices from every corner of the world to the place of instruction. For ordinary people, such as the heirs of a viscount, it represents the first tangible proof of the Magi's power: its mere existence instills in the passengers an awed reverence before the true sorcerers. It is precisely aboard the Floating City that Leylin Farlier begins his path as a Magus Apprentice, thanks to the efforts of his "father," Viscount John Farlier, who managed to secure him a place at the Academy. There he meets other Apprentice candidates, observes the fearsome servants of the Academy clad in white cloaks, and carefully conceals his anomaly: a foreign soul that has entered the body of a young noble. The City becomes the transitional space between Leylin's former mundane life and the world of the Magi in which he must survive.
