After his band was cut down outside Fenyata, Ovigis bent the knee with what was left and turned out a dependable garrison commander. Together with Redi he formed the holding force that kept the captured Kemmes castle and copper mine under control while Lorist pushed north.

A former mountain-bandit captain. After his band was cut down near Fenyata, Ovigis bent the knee to Lorist with what was left of it and proved a solid, dependable man.

From the very start of Lorist's northern career Ovigis commands the bodyguard squad: with Patt he picks out the hardiest young fighters from the captured bandits to make family soldiers (ch 81), and during the storming of the Kemmes wall at Rockcastle his bodyguard squad follows Lorist up the rampart (ch 83).

In time a dependable garrison commander: with Redi he forms the holding force that kept the captured Kemmes castle and copper mine under control while Lorist pushed north. He remains in the Norton command circle through much of the story.
