Momentum

Momentum is a small town in a viscount's lands, the first major stop on Alan's path after his banishment. The town is walled against monsters, and at the very gate the hero learns how lawless it is: guards extort an exorbitant entry fee and try to rob the traveler at night.

It is here that Alan takes his first steps toward independence: he uses Reversal to restore junk from the dump into valuable elixirs and equipment, does business with the honest guildmaster Igl, registers with the adventurer guild, and reaches Iron rank. It is also here that he first takes revenge — bankrupting the 'Rest' trading company that oppressed him and finishing off its head.

Over the town's shadow side stands Viscount Momentum together with the local branch of the largest dark guild. After they hire assassins against Alan, he destroys the branch and secretly turns the viscount himself into a slave with enslavement magic — making Momentum the first place where the hero fully turns his power against those in power.

Momentum serves as the hero's 'training ground': here he masters working with his skill, the guilds, and society's dark side. Many threads from here — Igl, the dark guild, corrupt officials — extend onward to the capital.
