Description
Gizu Raging is the head of the ducal house of Raging and the younger brother of the current king. He is a rare noble for this world: he draws no distinction between the highborn and commoners, for which the people genuinely love him. Some even thought he should have been made king, but Gizu, fearing a split among the nobility, voluntarily renounced the throne.
Alan meets him after rescuing his daughter Nina from the orichalcon-rank assassin Mist and teleporting her, carriage and servants and all, straight into the ducal garden. Unlike the arrogant nobles, Gizu hears Alan out as an equal, does not try to coerce him, and offers service — and respects the choice when refused.
Realizing how valuable and dangerous Alan is, the duke gifts him the family pendant bearing his crest — a sword and an eagle: a token at the sight of which any sensible noble will sheathe his weapon. Gizu promises to keep silent about Alan's abilities and to quietly shield him, becoming his most influential patron.
Alan's father called Gizu a 'coward' for renouncing the throne, but on meeting him Alan sees not weakness but a carefully hidden core of steel — a man who deliberately refused to walk the 'bloody path of asuras.'
Patronage of Alan
By gifting the ducal pendant and promising to keep the secret of Alan's teleportation and other skills, Gizu effectively grants him the noble protection he lost on his banishment. This lets Alan act more freely without fear that half the nobility will turn on a 'dangerous element.'
