High in the sky hung a full moon, and down below stood a lone young man and woman.
On this stone-paved road, deep in the quiet of night, Chu Feng and Su Mei walked side by side. Bathed in the bright moonlight, Chu Feng would occasionally steal glances at the girl beside him, silently marveling at just how beautiful she really was.
Those slender lashes, those glistening eyes, that elegant little nose, those soft pink lips, the perfect curve rising at her chest, and skin as white as snow — she was so beautiful it made his heart race. Calling her a goddess descending to the mortal world wouldn't be an exaggeration.
Lost in admiration, Chu Feng couldn't help himself. He spread his arms and made a move to grab Su Mei, and moments later, another scream rang out through the night.
"Ahhhh!"
"Damn it, girl — I just tried to hug you! Was it really necessary to bite that hard?" Chu Feng looked at the neat row of small teeth marks on his hand, wincing in pain.
Thankfully, his skin was as tough as steel and his bones as hard as iron. Otherwise, that bite from Su Mei could have torn off a chunk of flesh. This girl really didn't hold back.
"That's what you get for taking advantage of me, you pervert!" Su Mei glared fiercely at Chu Feng, then said, "I heard you stayed in the cultivation array for four whole hours. Is that true?"
"Yeah. So what?"
"You really are a freak, you know that? Don't you know that even Core Disciples can stay in the cultivation array for three hours at most? You've already become the weirdest freak in the Inner Sect."
"Oh really? Then I guess the rest of them are just too useless."
Chu Feng wasn't bragging. If he hadn't felt that day that he'd already mastered the Void Flight Technique and saw no need to waste more time, he could have easily stayed in the cultivation array for several more hours without any problem.
"It's not that they're too useless — it's that you're too much of a monster." Su Mei curled her lips, then suddenly narrowed her eyes with a playful grin. "Soon you'll be meeting all the members of the Wing Alliance. Nervous?"
"What's there to be nervous about?" Chu Feng said dismissively.
He'd thought Su Mei came looking for him this late because she had something pleasant in mind. He didn't realize it was a gathering of Wing Alliance members — and the reason for the gathering, naturally, was tomorrow's Core Disciple Examination.
Including Chu Feng, the Wing Alliance had only thirty-three members in total. But this year's Core Disciple Examination would see at least twelve participants from their ranks, and those twelve could be considered the strongest members the Wing Alliance currently had.
This meant the Inner Sect's Wing Alliance was about to undergo a revolution — not only would they be selecting a new Alliance Leader, but they also needed to plan strategy for the examination. This Core Disciple Examination wasn't something the Wing Alliance had been gearing up for on its own. The Sword Dao Alliance and the World Alliance had been waiting for it just as long. The exam wouldn't be as simple as it looked on the surface — it was very likely to become a clash between the Inner Sect's top disciples.
"I knew you wouldn't be the type to get nervous over something like them," Su Mei said with a sweet smile, a hint of admiration flickering in her eyes.
With Su Mei at his side, Chu Feng arrived at a grand estate. This was the residence of the Wing Alliance's leader and also the alliance's current gathering point. Right now, every member of the Wing Alliance was inside.
Stepping through the gates, Chu Feng immediately felt multiple pairs of eyes lock onto him, sweeping up and down his body. He detected surprise, astonishment — and also disdain and suspicion.
But what Chu Feng noticed first was the powerful auras emanating from these people. The Wing Alliance truly lived up to its reputation as an alliance of geniuses. People like Bai Long and Bai Hu — the so-called "Dragon Brother and Tiger Brother" — were barely at the bottom of the pack here.
Among the thirty-one figures in the main hall, Chu Feng also spotted a few familiar faces: Bai Long, Bai Hu, Ye Taozi, Zhang Tingzi, Bai Tong, and others he had met before.
"So this must be Brother Chu Feng. I am Situ Yu, leader of the Wing Alliance." A handsome young man stepped forward, leading a large group of Wing Alliance members toward Chu Feng.
Situ Yu was about the same age as Jian Fengyi, and his cultivation was at the Spirit Martial Ninth Level — his aura was even more robust than Jian Fengyi's. Though he was courteous and polite on the surface, Chu Feng could sense that this man was not nearly as amiable as he appeared.
