Chu Xuanyuan is Chu Feng's father and a descendant of the Chu Heavenly Clan, one of only two people ever to step onto the Ninth Level of the Nine Levels Heavenly Lightning Steps. Extremely secretive and calculating, he prefers to live plainly and inconspicuously, avoiding attention.
Outwardly he is an unremarkable, middling-height man of ordinary looks, yet the aura he radiates is beyond that of an ordinary person. He is among the most meticulous characters in the story, with nearly every move planned in advance.
When Chu Feng was deemed talentless at birth, Chu Xuanyuan's fury led to a slaughter and to father and son being banished from the clan. In truth he accepted the punishment willingly, in order to enter the clan's Forbidden Area and strengthen his Heavenly Lightning Bloodline. Throughout, he protects Chu Feng from the shadows, helps him grow and sets him harsh trials, even faking his own death so his son learns to stand against enemies alone.
