The Demon King of Fall Rain—later named Preta, and originally the girl Ester—is the boss of the Tower's 20th floor and the main antagonist of floors 11–20. She began as a mindless alien black goo able to absorb the memories and appearance of anything it devoured.
After consuming a little girl named Ester, the goo took on her identity and her awareness, and used its power to heal the sick and dying by creating living clones of them. She became revered as the "Saintess of the Outskirts." When a kingdom branded her a witch and slaughtered her and her village, grief over the loss of the "children" she had resurrected twisted her into a corrupted constellation—the Demon King of Fall Rain.
As the 20th-floor boss she nearly conquered the whole Aegim Empire, until Kim Gong-ja defeated her and ended her reign. Confronting her trauma, he takes her in as a subordinate, and she now manages the 20th floor. Gong-ja later summons her as a Preta and gives her a living body as his adopted daughter, who takes the name Estelle.
