Warlock of the Magus World

The Northern Nobles are the aristocratic families that rule the frontier territories under Silverymoon's leadership in the World of Gods, holding scattered forts, castles and farmlands across the harsh northern regions. The further north their lands, the more militarised they must be to survive attacks by orcs, werecreatures and wild tribes.

They are politically fragmented and status-driven, riven by rivalries and grudges, and heavily dependent on — and fearful of — the wizard hierarchy of Silverymoon. Resource-poor and quick to flee when overwhelmed, they treat Leylin respectfully as a military officer chiefly because of his credentials.

During Arc 5 the orcish advance and Silverymoon's collapse devastate them: morale breaks, many abandon their lands and castles and flee south in disorder, and the noble class all but disintegrates. As Silverymoon falls silent and commanders like Cassley prove treacherous, the nobles increasingly look to Leylin, who becomes their de facto leader through sheer competence and power. Baron Andrew, a rare rational figure who abandons his lands to join Leylin's caravan, is among the few who adapt.
