Mr. Victor is a respected musician and teacher in the city of Aalto, and Lucien Evans' very first teacher, instructing him in both language and music. A middle-aged man often seen in a loose red coat, with deep blue eyes and a rich, resonant voice, he moves with a calm grace shadowed by the weariness of years of dedication and personal hardship.
A member of the Musicians' Association and its Symphony Orchestra, Victor earns a modest living, taking on language lessons as a side job to fund his preparations for a prestigious concert at Psalm Hall. The death of his wife left a lasting mark on him, deepening the emotional register of his music. Over his career he has mentored nine students of varied backgrounds, among them Lucien, Lott Griffith, Felicia Hayne and Herodotus.
Kind-hearted, patient and encouraging, Victor genuinely cares for his students' success regardless of their social standing, valuing perseverance and hard work above birth. It was his reputation and personal connections that opened doors for the gifted Lucien - including his early post at the Musicians' Association library - making the humble teacher a quiet but pivotal figure at the start of the protagonist's rise.
