Guardian of the Realm
Description
The Guardian of the Realm is the protector of the entire Central Twilight Zone, a rank-3 Magus who has watched over the region for more than nine hundred years. The lifespan limit of a rank-3 Magus is only a thousand years, and only Morning Star Magi can break that limit, so his long vigil has left him near the end of his time.
He dwells in an unknown chamber deep in the earth's crust, lit by an eerie green glow. There he is a withered old man, his body a mass of wrinkles and his eyes sunk deep into his skull like a dead man walking. A large, bizarre flower wraps its tendrils around his back, its dark-green feelers rooting into his flesh and extending deep underground, channelling a great flow of plant matter into him to keep him alive.
"Guardian of the Realm" is also one of the many titles Leylin himself later bears, echoing the role of this ancient protector.
