Eat.
Eat.
Eat.
Bitter.
Very bitter.
It's bitter, a little sweet, and somehow sad.
Good morning.
I don't know if it's actually morning, but I successfully woke up today too.
The parallel consciousness is incredibly useful, but unfortunately it can't do things like sleeping in shifts.
No matter how many consciousnesses I have, there's only one body.
So when the body sleeps, consciousness drops along with it.
That much can't be helped.
After my conversation with the malicious god D yesterday, I was zoning out for a while.
I'd caught a glimpse of the existence when I obtained the Sage's Wisdom, but I never expected it to suddenly start talking to me like that.
Well, the only things I learned are that the guy is a complete nutjob, and that in the end I didn't learn anything at all.
Yup.
I figured out that I don't know anything.
If anything, I have even more mysteries now.
The smartphone, fluent Japanese, the man in black.
I don't know who the man in black is, but I think he's a person from this world.
D was speaking with him in some incomprehensible language, and that's probably the language of this world.
But that raises a question.
How can D speak Japanese so fluently?
Starting from the smartphone itself — that's weird.
That was unmistakably a smartphone.
I don't know what the technology level of this world is like, but even if it were comparable, it's hard to imagine they'd produce an exact replica of a smartphone in another world.
If that's the case, then that smartphone was probably from Earth.
Thinking about it that way, the reason D was chatting away in Japanese makes sense.
The guy is in Japan.
Whether he's still there now or was there before, I don't know, but he has definitely been in Japan at some point.
Come to think of it, whether it's the Voice of Heaven (tentative) or the Appraisal results, everything is in Japanese.
I should have felt more uneasy about Japanese being used so casually in another world like this.
I'd unconsciously assumed it was tailored to me since Japanese is all I know, but that's probably not it.
D set it to Japanese.
What's suspicious is the mysterious garbled-text Skill I have.
This Skill might have a function that translates the other world's language into Japanese.
Ah, but then I should have been able to understand the man in black's conversation too, so that's not it.
Maybe system-related audio and displays get converted to Japanese, though?
That seems plausible.
There might be all sorts of secrets packed into this Skill.
But anyway, that's about as far as I can go. Beyond that, I know nothing.
What exactly is this existence called Administrator? Is it really only watching me for entertainment?
I don't know.
Hmph.
No good.
I'm getting tangled up.
This isn't like me.
Like the me I usually am, I'll just leave the stuff I don't know as stuff I don't know.
Whether it's a malicious god or whatever, if all they're doing is peeking, it's harmless.
It's not like I'm living in a way I'd be troubled to have seen.
Oh, sorry.
Cut out the parts where my butt was on fire.
Well, whatever that thing's intentions are, I'm me.
I'll just keep living as myself from here on out.
Right.
Let's do that.
For now, let's just forget about D.
If the man in black says he's not getting involved, I can just forget about him too.
Ah, but D did say the Sage's Wisdom Skill was a reward.
Maybe I should've said thank you for that part at least.
...Meh, whatever.
If I end up crossing paths with it again someday, I can say it then.
It did say "again" and all.
Now then, time to resume exploring.
While I was zoning out yesterday, the body-duty guy ate the Fire Dragon.
The taste was like averaging white fish and chicken.
It was good.
But as expected, I'm starting to want seasonings.
Compared to the disgusting Monsters I've eaten so far, it's vastly better, but it's a little lacking.
Ever since starting with that catfish, I've been eating a lot of delicious things, so maybe my standards have gotten higher.
The taste was like that, but the quantity was considerable.
My SP, which had been depleted from the death battle with the Fire Dragon, was completely refilled.
It'd be wasteful, so I used up the excess SP to grind Proficiency and ate the rest.
If my Space Magic level goes up, will I learn some kind of Item Box-type magic?
I didn't think I needed one at first, but with big catches coming one after another like this, eating everything on the spot is getting to be a hassle.
I don't want to leave leftovers, so it'd be convenient if I could carry the stuff I can't finish.
For reference, Shadow Sink can't substitute for an Item Box.
If I put something in there, I can't move it.
It really is a magic with an awkward use case.
Actually, Shadow Magic itself is pretty awkward.
Its attack power and practicality are both mediocre.
It's also a downside that it takes until Level 6 to become remotely useful — way too late-blooming.
And even calling it late-blooming, the flower that blooms is mediocre too.
When Shadow Magic hits Level 10, will it branch off or evolve into Dark Magic?
Probably, but having already learned the highest-tier Dark magic, it doesn't really appeal to me.
Well, Abyss Magic does have the weakness of being too powerful to use casually, so getting a magic with moderate firepower would be welcome.
But still — I've defeated the Fire Dragon, and I might truly have no enemies left in the Middle Layer at this point.
Let's push straight through the Middle Layer at this rate.
