Thanks to this Skill, they relentlessly attack any being that has harmed their companions, which is why they're also called Revenge Apes. They have a breeding season, and when their numbers swell, the resulting damage is catastrophic. An individual's danger rating is D, but they're said to become equivalent to S-rank depending on the size of the swarm. The specimens inhabiting the Great Ello Dungeon possess their own Dark Vision. For reference, the swarm that the protagonist defeated was the minimum possible size.

Commonly known as great apes. An evolved form of the Anogratch, featuring a massive jaw like that of a giant crocodile. And yet, for some reason, upon evolving it loses the Revenge Skill and the Rage Skill as well. A bizarre species that undergoes an evolution that strips away its Skills. Since it no longer has Revenge, defeating one no longer triggers an entire swarm to come after you in retaliation. It occasionally mixes in with large Anogratch groups, but the two sides never coordinate with each other. An individual's danger rating is C, close to B. A rare species where the pre-evolution form is widely considered far more dangerous. It's theorized that the Skills were lost for the sake of species preservation, but whether that's true remains unknown.

Commonly known as sea dragons. It has the appearance of a seahorse with arms and legs grown onto it. A lower-rank dragon species. It normally swims through magma while searching for food. Against other Middle Layer monsters, it resorts to physical smackdowns, but against intruders from the Lower or Upper Layers, it pelts them with Fireballs from within the magma. However, being a brainless brute, once it runs out of MP it tries to beat them up with physical attacks. A headlong charge through and through. That said, if the opponent is overwhelmingly strong, it will at least have the sense to flee. Danger rating D.

It swallows anything and everything with its huge mouth. Completely the opposite of the sea dragon when it comes to temperament — it's a total coward. If an opponent is even slightly strong, it bolts immediately. It tastes great, which is why a certain spider is always hunting it. Danger rating C.

It also possesses enough judgment to read a situation. Not as skittish as the catfish, but it will retreat against a superior opponent. Like the catfish, it tastes great, which means a certain spider is always after it. Danger rating B.
