This kind of contradiction and filthy scheming among the gods actually put quite at ease.

If all the gods worked in harmony, how could he possibly make his way in the Material Plane? He'd probably have to immediately sink into the Abyss or Hell.

"It seems this is also a consequence of the sleeping will of the gods… Without the Supreme God's restraints, those gods have all begun to develop their own ideas…"

Leylin suddenly thought of the World of the Plane of .

Gods were the darlings of the world, and the World Will of the Plane of Gods was none other than the sole Supreme God—the Lord of All Gods!

In Leylin's view, the World Wills of both the World and the Plane of Gods had probably reached the ninth tier! Omniscient, omnipotent, yet still lacking that final step to achieve eternity!

In the end, not only the wizards and the gods, but even the World Wills of both planes had fought each other to the death, ultimately falling into slumber.

Before falling asleep, the World Will of the Plane of Gods had completely sealed off that world, its powerful Crystal Wall System rejecting all forms of exchange.

Though this move had effectively protected the Plane of Gods and allowed new gods to grow, once the division of faith was complete and no new sources emerged, enormous contradictions arose.

Without external enemies, the gods could only turn on each other in bitter internal strife.

In fact, according to Leylin's darker thoughts, among those gods of great power, there were surely some who coveted the throne of the Supreme God!

After all, even gods would fall with the fading of their faith, unless they could directly draw power from the World Origin Force and become entities of Transcendent Divine Power!

To achieve that, the World Will was the greatest obstacle!

"Tragic, isn't it? The children it birthed ultimately walking the path of opposition…"

Leylin's eyes narrowed slightly, and a flash of steely resolve appeared within his pupils!

"Kaslai! Good day!"

As he was leaving the city, Leylin ran into an unexpected person once again.

"Good day, Leylin Wizard!" Kaslai nodded. "I may be joining forces with you this time. I hope you'll cooperate!"

"Cooperate?!" Leylin's pupils contracted slightly, but the smile on his face didn't waver. He then slowly walked away.

Though his strength still fell slightly short of Kaslai's, his status was now roughly equal. The old dynamic where he had to yield the way no longer existed.

Even in terms of military deployment, it was now a peer-level coordination, not a superior barking orders at a subordinate.

Don't underestimate this distinction—in actual combat, it could be a matter of life and death.

At the very least, it prevented Kaslai from coming over and micromanaging, forcing the army to throw their lives away!

"Damn it!"

After Leylin's figure had completely disappeared, the warm smile on Kaslai's face crumbled entirely, replaced by a terrifying chill.

Leylin Farell! That name had become increasingly glaring alongside the beastmen invasion, especially after several of Kaslai's retaliatory schemes were effortlessly deflected by the other party, only further cementing Leylin's reputation.

By now, people had begun to compare Leylin and himself, calling them the two brightest rising stars of their respective factions.

In Kaslai's eyes, being placed on equal footing with a junior was nothing short of a naked insult!

Moreover, with his string of failures, the faction behind him had begun gradually reducing their support—something he found even more intolerable!

To resolve all of this, there was only one way: make the source of this meteoric rise—Leylin—completely vanish from the world!

"I look forward to the expression on your face before death…" A trace of darkness flickered through Kaslai's eyes, and without looking back, he entered Silvermoon City.

Two days later, a force of nearly a thousand soldiers slowly departed from Silvermoon City.

"I've been sick of that Kaslai's face for ages! Now he's deliberately been assigned to the same unit as us—he's definitely looking to cause trouble!"

The young knight grumbled angrily beside Leylin.

"I'm afraid it's more than just trouble…" Leylin could sense the killing intent radiating from the other party with perfect clarity.

"But… as for how things will actually turn out, that's truly anyone's guess…"

A strange arc slowly curved upward at the corner of Leylin's mouth.

"We've entered the danger zone! Stay on alert!"

As they approached the Dark Forest, even Kaslai grew vigilant. After all, this was where they could be attacked by the Beastkin.

Following the beastmen's invasion, the forces around the Silvermoon Alliance had all begun stirring restlessly.

The Black Blood Tribe in particular had directly seized the entire Dark Forest. Previously, Silvermoon City could still gather intelligence through regular patrol rangers, but now, entering the forest was practically courting death!

And an alliance between the Beastkin and the beastmen seemed entirely plausible—after all, to human eyes, they looked nearly identical in appearance and behavior.

Cooperation seemed like a natural progression.

And if the Black Blood Tribe also joined the beastmen's ranks, the blow to Silvermoon City would be unimaginable.

"That queen city lord, Her Highness , must be in great distress right now…"

Leylin thought calmly to himself.

Suddenly, a piercing cry rang out—it was a grey-and-white hawk, the animal companion of a scout druid in their party.

"I can see Baron Andru's castle! But it's under siege!"

The druid immediately came before Leylin to report.

"Under siege?"

Leylin frowned. From his current position, he could faintly make out dust clouds on the horizon. "Beastmen or half-orcs?"

"Half-orcs! I'm certain—I saw the Black Blood Tribe's banner!" The druid nodded vigorously.

"What are we waiting for? Let's charge!"

Rafinia drew the longsword at her waist. Having witnessed the beastmen and half-orcs razing villages on several occasions, she had become a resolute human supremacist.

"Wait! At the very least, we should notify Kaslai!"

Leylin grabbed Nick's reins with some exasperation and dispatched a messenger to communicate with the allied forces, his face wearing an expression of helpless resignation. "After all these years, how have you still not matured even a little…"

Before long, the messenger returned with Kaslai's reply.

"Commander Kaslai says he is in charge of the defense corps—these matters are for you to handle!" the messenger reported loudly, then saluted and withdrew.

Before departure, Kaslai had used some scheme or other to secure an assignment of guarding several noble estates.

Leylin, on the other hand, had been given the offensive mission: he had to intercept the Beastkin vanguard within the Dark Forest.

Behind him was Kaslai, responsible for defense—and who also happened to control Leylin's supply lines.

To put it bluntly, Kaslai's real task was to hold the territory the moment Leylin suffered a complete defeat. He was the defender behind the walls, while Leylin was the vanguard striking out.

"Having this kind of guy at my back—the outcome doesn't even need to be imagined…"

Leylin shook his head. If it were anyone else, Kaslai would probably play them to death. The fact that he had managed to arrange this assignment showed just how deep his hatred ran.

"The people behind me haven't given me much support—is it a matter of loyalty?"

Leylin sighed inwardly. His rise had been too brief, and he hadn't truly earned their trust yet. Otherwise, he wouldn't be in such a passive position.

"When a Silvermoon City High Wizard reaches the fifteenth level, they apparently have to sign an extremely powerful contract to guarantee the wizard's loyalty. Its effect even extends all the way to the Legendary and High-Legendary tiers…"

Leylin suddenly recalled a rumor, but it now seemed very likely to be true.

"If I reach level fifteen and advance to High Wizard, the same thing will probably happen to me. But before that, compared to someone like Kaslai who has already signed such a contract, he would naturally be more easily trusted…"

Leylin thought quietly, but his face betrayed not the slightest hint of it.

From the soldiers below, their commander's face appeared full of steely resolve.

"Advance!" Finally, Leylin gave the order.

Soon, a besieged castle came into view. The neighboring village had already been put to the torch, and scattered corpses lay in disordered piles, many of them incomplete.

"Charge! Leave no one alive!"

The scene immediately sent Leylin's soldiers into a fury, and he timely issued the attack command.

"Kill!"

Rafinia charged at the forefront. She was now the captain of a small knight squad, and with her subordinates she tore through the half-orc formation like a black wedge.

Upon seeing the reinforcements arrive, the people on the castle walls let out a cheer.

"This group of half-orcs is small in number, and their stamina has been heavily drained from attacking the castle. Caught between us and the defenders, they don't stand a chance!"

Leylin's gaze swept across the battlefield, displaying a masterful command of fluid, almost artistic generalship. The army of two hundred professionals moved under his direction like the most precise machine, calmly and efficiently harvesting the lives of the half-orcs.

By the time Kaslai arrived with the rear, he could only see auxiliary soldiers cleaning up the battlefield.

This ability made his pupils contract slightly, followed by an even more intense surge of killing intent.

"I am Baron Andru! Thank you for your rescue!"

At that moment, the tightly shut castle gate opened, and a middle-aged noble emerged with his household guard, his face still showing lingering fear.

"I am Kaslai! From Silvermoon City! You and your people are saved!"

At this point, Kaslai stepped forward without the slightest hesitation, looking thoroughly self-satisfied—making Leylin's subordinates bristle with indignation.

"Haha… This is reality! Under the constraints of rules, even the most talented must comply!"

Kaslai had once despised this rule to no end, but now he found it thoroughly satisfying.
