Leilin certainly wasn't going to let this spell city slip by.
In Danbres, there were hardly any high-ranking wizards left to speak of, let alone research from [Legendary Wizards].
In fact, among the ancient notebooks Leilin had obtained earlier, the possible locations of [
For all these reasons, coming to Silvermoon City was something Leilin felt compelled to do.
"Even though the journey took nearly a year, it wasn't without its rewards…"
Leilin smiled faintly and glanced at his attribute panel: [Leilin Faolan | Age: 18 | Race: Human | Level 11
After obtaining the Perfect Body talent, Leilin had suddenly felt that his body not only gained adaptability to all manner of harsh environments, but his mental capacity seemed to have broken through some kind of bottleneck — his improvement speed had become astonishingly fast, as if he'd received an additional bonus on top of his original wizard aptitude!
After a full year of meditation, even without the [Demon Blood Dagger]'s siphoning ability, Leilin had still broken through to Level 11 as a wizard, able to cast 5th-level spells!
In the
A high-ranking professional above Level 15 could receive preferential treatment anywhere, but [High-ranking Wizards] were especially valued.
With their vast repertoire of area-of-effect spells, the destructive power they could unleash surpassed even numerous physical-class professionals!
It was precisely this that gave wizards their exalted status.
If this world didn't have gods — if clerics and druids didn't possess spellcasting ability, and if bloodline bearers couldn't cast quasi-spells — the World of Gods would probably have been renamed the World of Wizards long ago.
Even so, wizards were still a formidable force in the World of Gods. After the Twilight of the
"Exactly because of the [High-ranking Wizards]' tremendous power, every nation maintains strict control over this kind of magical material. The only place that's somewhat open about it is Silvermoon City…"
Leilin mused silently.
This was because Silvermoon City was wealthy beyond measure, backed by the goddess of the
"That Lord of Silvermoon City, the goddess of the Weave's Chosen, rumored to be her daughter — I hear she's quite the beauty…"
Leilin stroked his chin. "And according to rumors through certain secret channels, if one could win her favor, one might even earn the goddess of the Weave's blessing and gain a few extra low-level spell slots or something…"
This little perk, however, was something Leilin couldn't take advantage of.
Having already fully analyzed the first three layers of the Weave, he had no need for low-level spell slots at all. And if he got too close to her and she noticed something off, that would be a disaster beyond tears.
"That said, after obtaining the Minor Perfect Body and advancing to Level 11, the Chip's analysis of the Weave has progressed another step — the 3rd layer is nearly fully cracked…"
The higher a wizard's level, the deeper their access to the Weave, and the faster the Chip's analysis progressed. This had been verified before.
"With Silvermoon City's resources, reaching [High-ranking Wizard] shouldn't be a problem. As for [Legendary Wizard], that will depend on luck… In that regard, even the [Demon Blood Dagger] wouldn't help me much, and forging another one would be pointless…"
The [Demon Blood Dagger]'s attribute boost was very noticeable below 5 points, but became somewhat lacking between 5 and 10, and barely perceptible beyond 10.
Risking carrying a demonic artifact on his person for such a negligible attribute gain would be extremely unwise.
After all, this wasn't some backwater like Danbres. Not only did [Legendary Wizards] exist here, but even god-incarnate [Chosen] walked the land — Leilin had zero confidence he could hide anything from them.
Therefore, since the [Demon Blood Dagger]'s boost was no longer significant, even if it hadn't been damaged last time, Leilin had planned to stow it away or even hand it off to a subordinate.
"If we're talking about rapid advancement, there are actually many methods in
"E-Excuse me… are you also a wizard apprentice heading to Moonhaven?"
Just as Leilin was deep in thought, a timid voice spoke up from nearby.
It pulled Leilin out of his reverie. He looked at the three young ladies behind him — no, perhaps "girls" was more accurate.
They had clearly come up onto the deck after hearing that the waves had subsided.
The one who had spoken was the girl in the middle — she had chestnut-brown hair, bright blue eyes beneath a fair forehead, and a smile at the corner of her lips that easily put one at ease.
Flanking her were two companions, one taller and one shorter, somewhat similar in appearance. Both wore blue plaid skirts with little flowers along the hem, looking very much like a pair of sisters.
At that moment, Tifa was glaring daggers at the girl who had interrupted his young master. Though he had suppressed his power, his aura alone was enough to make the three girls feel a suffocating terror.
"I-I'm sorry! Sir, I was just curious!"
The middle girl clutched the hem of her skirt, her face looking as though she were about to burst into tears.
They did have a butler and a matron sent by their families, but none of them had ever carried the kind of authority that old man across from them radiated. It terrified them.
"Alright, Tifa, you're scaring our friends!"
Leilin glanced at the faint silhouettes in the background and said with a smile, his voice like a warm spring breeze that melted all fear away without a trace.
"My apologies, Young Master!" Tifa stepped back. "And to you three young ladies as well!"
"It's fine…" The girl spoke much more fluently now. "My name is Besanni, and these two sisters are Ina and Asadora. We're all wizard apprentices heading to Silvermoon City to continue our studies… Are you as well, sir?"
"Wizard apprentices…" — those below Level 3 specifically, meaning those with wizard aptitude who could channel magical energy and cast 0-level spells.
Leilin probed gently with his senses and confirmed it: all three girls did indeed possess the spiritual energy fluctuations characteristic of wizards, and had already touched the 0th layer of the Weave.
"My name is Leilin. I'm a wizard as well!"
Leilin smiled, concealing his actual level. After all, revealing it would serve no purpose.
"I knew it!"
Asadora, standing next to Besanni, chimed in: "Leilin, where are you from? I feel like you have a bit of a southern accent…"
The three young women swarmed around Leilin like cheerful little sparrows, peppering him with questions this way and that.
Leilin chatted with them with an easy smile. He possessed that kind of infectious warmth — an ability to put lesser beings at ease. Well, you might also call it the polish of noble upbringing.
Through their conversation, Leilin quickly gathered some basic information.
Besanni and the sisters Ina and Asadora came from two small northern families. All three had been identified as possessing wizard aptitude and were sent by their families to Silvermoon City for further training.
Among them, Besanni had the friendliest personality and was the most talkative, while Ina, despite being the elder sister, was less outgoing than Asadora and came across as rather shy.
"This time, my family only gave me 500 gold coins, so I have to be careful with spending. If I could manage to become an apprentice under a mid-ranking wizard, that would be wonderful…"
Besanni sighed suddenly, a worried look crossing her face.
Five hundred gold coins was certainly a substantial sum — enough for a minor noble to live comfortably for five years! But for training a wizard, it was far from sufficient.
What could be done about it, though? Besanni's family was the smallest of the baronet families, and the 500 gold coins had required great resolve — they'd even sold off some property and furnishings to scrape it together.
But if the family could produce a wizard, every coin invested would be repaid many times over!
Thinking of this, Besanni quietly clenched her teeth.
"Even the cheapest wizard academy in Silvermoon City charges 100 gold coins just for enrollment. As for becoming an apprentice under a [Mid-ranking Wizard]? That's practically impossible… Wizard apprentices from minor noble families like ours can only help others run experiments or copy spell scrolls to earn money in Silvermoon City…"
Asadora said with a bitter smile; it was clear she had a deeper understanding of wizard training.
Leilin came to a sudden realization — these female apprentices approaching him might have been trying to build connections, perhaps even considering forming an alliance.
"As expected of noble-borns, isn't it? The more books you read, the more you overthink things — and most of it amounts to nothing…"
Leilin sighed inwardly.
He looked no older than twenty on the surface, and he hadn't bothered to display any badge indicating his wizard rank. Being mistaken for a fellow apprentice was perfectly natural.
If he really were still a low-level wizard, he might have entertained the idea of playing along with them. But now, he couldn't even be bothered — they simply weren't on the same level anymore.
