"Is that true?" The crimson small being's expression had been shifting between dark and light, but at some unknown words from the dark-skinned youth, he blurted out involuntarily, then immediately sized Han Li up and down with a peculiar gaze.
Han Li narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of surprise stirring within him, but he said nothing.
"I've said everything there is to say. Whether you believe it is entirely your own business." The dark-skinned youth twitched his mouth, adopting an indifferent air.
"Fine, I'll trust you one more time. Fellow Daoist Han — I can serve as your spirit servant for a period of time, but you must take me with you when you ascend to the Immortal World. As for after we return to the Immortal World, if you can help me recover my Life-Linked Crystal Pearl, I am willing to continue serving as your spirit servant for tens of thousands of years. As for the spirit servitude contract, we will need to use the Heavenly Devil Contract to establish it together." The crimson small being spoke with a flash of red light in his eyes.
"As long as Fellow Daoist Huo is also willing to have restrictions placed upon him, that is naturally a most welcome proposition." Han Li replied with a smile.
Once Demon Light saw the matter was settled, he wasted no more words. He opened his mouth and spat a mass of black qi as dark as ink into the air.
The black qi swirled and condensed, transforming into a dark leather scroll that slowly drifted downward.
"I have already written the full terms of the contract upon it. If you two find no issues, sign your names or marks using your essence blood, and also separate a thread of spiritual sense to attach to it."
No sooner had he finished speaking than the dark-skinned youth spat a glob of essence blood at the black scroll. The blood dispersed upon contact with the wind and formed a bizarre symbol inscribed upon its surface.
He then formed a hand seal with one hand, and a streak of blood-red light shot forth from between his brows, vanishing into the scroll without a trace.
Han Li beckoned with one hand, and the black scroll blurred toward him. After lowering his head to examine it carefully several times, he nodded with a composed expression.
The contents written on the contract were largely consistent with their agreement — in some places, even more lenient than he had originally imagined.
Though it was called a contract, it was in truth more akin to a pact of mutual restraint.
Seeing it this way, Han Li actually felt somewhat more at ease.
He raised one finger, forced out a drop of essence blood, and let it fall upon the scroll.
A faint wisp of green light flickered within the drop of essence blood. The moment it landed on the black scroll, it immediately conjured the two golden ancient characters spelling "Han Li" in its place.
With a flick of his wrist, Han Li tossed the black scroll back to Huo Xuzi.
The fire spirit beast Huo Xuzi merely glanced at it once before nonchalantly performing the same procedure upon it.
With a soft "pfft."
The black scroll blurred and dissolved directly into a wisp of green smoke that dissipated into the void.
And just like that, the Heavenly Devil Contract was seemingly completed with ease.
"Things here have been mostly settled. You two come with me back to the human race. I believe that with the aid of you two fellow daoists, I shall benefit greatly in the future." Han Li said, his expression easing slightly.
"Heh heh, since we've signed the contract, we'll act in accordance with its terms. Wherever you go, fellow daoist, we naturally follow." The dark-skinned youth chuckled.
"Very well. Once we handle the last matter, we set off immediately." Han Li nodded.
"The last matter? You don't mean that fellow who's been hiding below, eavesdropping on our conversation this whole time?" Huo Xuzi said, his eyes widening.
No sooner had he finished speaking than a section of the ground below suddenly blazed with light, and a five-colored light formation materialized out of thin air.
Almost simultaneously, just below Han Li and the others, a ripple of fluctuation stirred, and a streak of white light pierced through the air, shooting straight toward the location of the light formation.
Demon Light, the Celestial fiend, seemed to have known about this all along. He calmly struck backward with a palm.
With a thunderous boom.
The light formation on the ground was swept by some uncanny force and immediately shattered apart in every direction.
The white light spiraled around before revealing its true form nearby — it was none other than another "Ming Zun."
However, his aura was several times weaker than before, and his gaze as he looked toward Han Li and the others was exceedingly unsightly.
