Cheon Hwi

In his previous life Cheon Hwi earned the name Sword Demon — a name spoken with dread on both sides of the murim. It ended in defeat at the hands of the Heavenly Demon and in Dang So-wol dying before his eyes. Waking twenty years before all of it, he does the last thing anyone expects of an orthodox swordsman: he kidnaps the youngest daughter of the Tang Clan.

Not out of malice — it is how he pulls her clear of the ambush that cost her life the first time. The story is told in his voice. He is calculating, sparing with words, and forever balancing between knowing the future and being unable to explain where that knowledge came from.
