After deducting the commission, the Commerce Guild deposited the remaining amount into my account.
The Commerce Guild had said something along the lines of "We'll only take half the commission this time, or we can even waive it entirely," but since the sum being deposited was so massive, I didn't really care either way, so I just gave a half-hearted "Sure, that works" kind of reply.
By the way, both the Adventurer's Guild and the Commerce Guild have a sort of account system where you can deposit money.
Unfortunately, for low-ranked adventurers and small-to-medium merchants, all of their deposited money is lumped together and stored as one combined pool.
So when you go to withdraw your cash, you might find that the vault is empty, and in the worst cases, a guild employee has embezzled it and you're told "We never even held your money in the first place."
The only people who can reliably deposit money with the guild are oblivious newcomers, orihalcon-ranked individuals, and major merchants.
Of course, no one would be foolish enough to touch the money of the latter two, because doing so would cost them their lives instead (or so it should be).
I keep mine in storage magic, so I don't have to deal with any of that.
For those without a magic bag or storage magic, they'd better take self-defense measures, or their money will be stolen in no time.

After that, I gathered a large quantity of spirit medicinal herbs (which were originally the lowest-quality herbs) and delivered them to the Adventurer's Guild, successfully ranking up to Silver.
As if they had been waiting for exactly that moment, a strange man approached me.
"You're adventurer Alan, right? My master wishes to take you into his service. Come with me."
Another noble, huh?
I ended up surrounded by lightly-armored knights.
There hadn't been any trouble at all while I was gathering spirit medicinal herbs...
Wait, so the other party is a noble?
Maybe the pendant Gees gave me will actually work here?
"This pendant — do you recognize it?"
"That crest is from the Raging Duchy...! How does an adventurer have this? Where did you steal it from, you wretch!"
Oh, right.
That's exactly the kind of leap these guys would make.
More to the point, this pendant doesn't exactly radiate authority.
I was hoping it'd be more like that old lord's seal or something.
You know, the kind where everyone drops to their knees the moment they see it.
But I might be getting ahead of myself.
These are just the low-ranking grunts.
Maybe someone a little higher up would actually recognize it.
"Are you even listening, you insolent wretch?!!"
The butt of a spear jabbed into me.
Could you please not poke at me like you're prodding something foul?
Well, it's true I wasn't really paying attention.
"Fine, fine. Just lead the way. I'll follow."
"Hmph. You should've done that from the start. Made us go through all this trouble for nothing. Hand that pendant over — I'll hold onto it."
"I really wouldn't do that if I were you. What if this is genuine — something the Duke gave me directly? If you forcibly confiscate it, your lord and your whole family won't get off lightly, I assure you."
Besides, I'm pretty sure they couldn't take it from me by force anyway.
"...Adventurer scum, spouting nothing but nonsense! Enough — hand it over! The lord will have it inspected."
I don't know who this guy's master is, but shouldn't they have educated him better?
This pendant doesn't even have an effect.
Thinking it was completely pointless anyway, I just handed it over like they told me to.
Do whatever you want with it.
