But I was still here.
For the record, Gilmas was still alive.
After all, nobody could do anything about Gilmas—he'd been dispatched by the lord, after all. He'd been beaten to just
the right degree,
and it seemed he'd stopped taking that haughty attitude toward adventurers.
Anyway, today I was looking at the requests on the guild bulletin board again.
The request I was after should have been posted by now, but it seemed like I'd struck out.
So I trudged back home.
"Hey, wait up!!"
Some dumb-sounding voice called out to me, but I ignored it. Ignored it completely.
"I'm talking to you, you little brat! You and Claude staged that match, didn't you? How much did you pay him? Cough up some for me too!"
Huh? I had no idea what this bearded guy was blathering about.
But I couldn't let the accusation of match-fixing slide.
You can't let people look down on you. That's the adventurer's way.
"Who exactly are you saying threw a match with whom?"
"You and Claude, obviously! You just stare at the bulletin board every day without ever taking a single request. That means you've gotta be loaded enough to pull something like that off!"
Idiots really are everywhere, huh.
Is Claude really that special just because he has some kind of [Intuition] and chose to back down without a fight?
So this is extorting people, huh.
"No thanks, Beardo."
"Hah?! My name's Gazan! You won't hand it over, then get ready to feel some pain!"
And now Beardo's going for his sword.
Extorting people right inside the guild — the security around here is way too lax.
And nobody's even trying to stop him. This other world really is the end of civilization.
"If you draw that sword... I won't hold back."
"Shut up, you little brat!"
Thud, thud, thud.
Beardo's right arm, sliced into rings, falls to the ground.
It was too much hassle, so I just went ahead and cut it into rings from the start.
"Did you see me swing my sword?"
"Huh? Ah, ye— UGAAAAAAH!"
Looks like the pain finally caught up to him.
Now, time to clean up.
I pull a magic bag from Beardo's pocket while he writhes in agony, and hand it to the receptionist.
"For the trouble this time. Fighting inside the guild is fine, but you're not supposed to cause problems for the guild itself. He'll be the one paying the compensation."
The receptionist, looking slightly hesitant, still took it.
She's pretty tough.
"Damn, that guy's a demon or something. Even I couldn't tell when he swung his sword."
"Since Claude went out of his way to avoid the fight, you should've taken the hint. Idiots never learn until they get hurt, huh."
From the words of the surrounding adventurers, it seemed the bearded guy was a certified idiot.

So, while that was going on, I knocked out a few half-assed quests here and there, and finally the quest I'd been waiting for was posted.
It was support for subjugating a dragon in the western mountains.
This was the quest I'd been after.
The client was Count Fanda.
Qualification requirements were Silver Rank or above, or female.
That didn't apply to me.
So I left the guild, went back to the inn, and used [Reverse] to flip my gender.
I also changed my equipment.
From Black Steel
to a white robe and a mage's staff.
Also, when I became female, my right eye flipped to gold.
