Lina Baruch is the wife of Hogg and mother of Linley and Wharton, sharing Linley's brown hair. The family long believed she died in childbirth, but Hogg, Hillman, and the housekeeper Hiri knew the truth: she was kidnapped on the night she gave birth to Wharton.
She had been abducted by Duke Patterson on the orders of King Clayde, who gifted her to the Radiant Church to win their favor; the Church in turn offered her up because of her exceptionally pure soul. Her loss haunts the Baruch family for generations and fuels much of Hogg and Linley's grief and resolve.
Sacrificed by the Radiant Church, Lina was reincarnated on the Divine Light Plane as a twelve-winged angel and controlled by the Chief Sovereign of Light, Augusta. Only after Linley finally struck Augusta down was she freed and able to recover her true memories, reuniting at last with her family.
