Freida

Freida (フリーダ) is the granddaughter of Gustav, the guildmaster of Ehrenfest's Merchant's Guild. She is a very cute girl with fluffy, rose-colored hair and brown eyes and — like Myne — was born with the Devouring, a magical illness that left her small and sickly.

Behind a mature, dignified, demure manner lies an ambitious merchant with a keen nose for profit and an eye for opportunities others overlook. When money is at stake she drops the demure act and becomes aggressive and blunt; her obsession with counting and saving money is said to rival Myne's obsession with books.

To save her life, Gustav used his wealth to buy magic tools that ease the Devouring, and arranged a submission contract with a gentle noble, Lord Henrik, under which her surplus mana is drained until she comes of age. Freida befriends Myne as a fellow Devouring child and would-be merchant, at times a friend and at times a rival.
