Michael is one of the four archangels who lead the army of Malakh, and the younger twin brother of Luciel—the being who would become the legendary Lucifer. The Heavenly World knows him as a bloodthirsty, battle-crazed warrior, arrogant and reckless, who survived his own recklessness only under the protection of Metatron, whose second-in-command he eventually became.

In secret, Michael harbors a deep inferiority complex and hatred toward his brother Luciel, whose power far surpassed his own. Although it became legend that Michael wept while striking down his twin during Luciel's subjugation, Athena reveals that he in truth took cold glee in the deed.
