Demon Continent

The Demon Continent was once part of the single Giant Continent, separated from human lands only after the Second Human-Demon War. For centuries humans used diplomacy to slowly herd the despised demons onto this barren landmass and blockade it. Only a thousand years ago did the Demon God Laplace unite the demons and forge a Unified Demon Empire; he remains the continent's idol to this day. After the Laplace War the blockade was lifted.

It was here that the Teleport Incident threw the ten-year-old Rudeus. Here he met Ruijerd Superdia and received a Demon Eye from a Demon Emperor.

The Demon Continent is a harsh, barren land where monsters are far stronger and more numerous than on the Central Continent, and food is scarce. There are no trees for firewood, and the scenery runs to whites, greys and browns. There is no single ruler: each city is governed by its own Demon Lord. The continent's currency — green ore coins, iron coins and stone coins — is the cheapest in the world, a vivid measure of the region's poverty.

Its cities include Rikaris, set inside a giant crater (a former Demon Emperor's fortress), and Krasma, the only city that keeps contact with the Sea People. The ports of Wend Port and Zant Port link the Demon Continent to the Millis Continent.
