Moving forward two steps and passing the tea table, Klein stretched his body and shook his wrists, no longer discovering anything unusual.
He looked out the bay window at the gas lamps illuminating the dimness and gloom and muttered thoughtfully: «My hands are nimbler, my movements are quicker. Even without my Beyonder powers, as long as I study diligently, I can become a top-tier magician.»
This was his first impression of his own changes.
And, as recorded in the Nighthawks’ internal documents, if a potion provides certain spell-like abilities, the Beyonder will become aware of it upon consumption and grasp exactly what they are. It is as if the corresponding knowledge is infused into the mind and imprinted onto the spirit through a mysterious method.
«It almost burst my head just now…» Klein shook his head with a smile, carefully recalling the earlier feeling and the corresponding spells.
Admittedly, the «Magician» is indeed a powerful Sequence 7, possessing many amazing abilities that can all be executed quickly.
Among them, Klein valued and liked three the most.
At the top of the list was «Wound Transfer»!
As long as he didn’t die directly and his hands could still move, he could transfer wounds from vital spots to less important places like his arms, turning fatal injuries into minor ones. This was an incredibly useful supernatural ability for surviving combat.
The only issue was that, at the Sequence 7 level, wounds could only be transferred on one’s own body, and there was only one chance. Perhaps as his Sequence increased, he could transfer them to objects or other people… it really felt magical… Klein imagined the future.
The second spell was «Flame Leap.» Within a thirty-meter range, he could teleport between fire seeds he left behind and pre-existing flames. It seemed to rely on the special properties of the Spirit World.
Hmm, it could be used perfectly for performing magic tricks… Klein bitterly mocked himself with satisfaction.
More importantly, as he digested the potion and advanced in Sequences, the range of «Flame Leap» would increase significantly.
The third spell-like supernatural ability was the «Air Bullet» that Klein had seen used by the tailcoat-wearing Clown in the
The «Magician» could create air bullets by snapping his fingers or simulating sounds. These bullets possessed power and speed no less than bullets fired from a custom revolver. Moreover, its effects would also strengthen with the digestion of the potion and the advancement of his Sequence. Klein suspected that by Sequence 5 or Sequence 4, he could craft cannonballs with his hands.
«In that case, there’s no need for me to buy a revolver and bullets anymore. No, I still need to buy one. For many things, there’s no need to reveal that I have Beyonder powers. Problems that can be solved with a gun aren’t really problems.» Klein nodded almost imperceptibly, turning his attention to the other spells and spell-like abilities.
The fourth was the «Paper Figurine Substitute.» At a critical moment, the Magician could briefly turn a paper figurine he carried into himself and swap positions with it. This was a relatively simple substitute spell. Besides blocking a fatal blow, it could also effectively reduce curse damage.
So this was the purpose of the paper figurines that the «Marionettist»
The fifth was the spell-like ability called «Flame Control.» As the name implied, he could control flames within a thirty-meter radius around him with a simple gesture. He could also directly ignite certain items within this range. Once the potion was completely digested or his Sequence was upgraded, he could even «summon» flames out of thin air.
The sixth was «Illusion Creation.» By influencing the surrounding environment, he could create lifelike illusions with color, sound, and smell, achieving the effect of deceiving and tricking enemies.
This was a Magician’s signature skill… Klein chuckled softly, walking to the front of the bay window, admiring the night scene of the street with great satisfaction.
The seventh was the fake «Underwater Respiration.» Its principle was to create an invisible, intangible thin air tube, allowing the Magician underwater to breathe freely through it, making him appear like a fish-man.
The problem was that the air tube had a length limit. At his current stage, Klein could barely maintain a length of around five meters. In other words, if the water depth exceeded five meters, there was a risk of drowning.
Of course, the digestion of the potion and the advancement of his Sequence would both bring substantial growth to the air tube.
The eighth was the spell-like ability «Bone Softening,» which could help the «Magician» break free from the constraints of handcuffs, ropes, and boxes.
Another signature skill! Klein thought with a good mood.
The ninth was an evolution of the Clown’s ability to turn paper into flying daggers, called «Extract Paper into a Soldier.» It could not only turn paper into sharp objects but also briefly transform it into weapons like clubs and bricks.
These were the nine main spells or spell-like abilities of the «Magician.» Although there were no exceptionally powerful types for attack or defense, and they lacked sufficiently bizarre varieties, they were fascinating and diverse. They instantly elevated Klein’s strength by more than one level, especially granting him prowess in preserving his life and escaping.
Moreover, the «Magician» possessed quick-casting techniques. Beyonders of this Sequence did not need to chant incantations or infuse spirituality. They only needed a simple motion to execute a corresponding spell or spell-like ability.
Additionally, the potion granted Klein some minor tricks, but none of them were very practical.
«I barely pass as a decent Beyonder now…» Klein silently sighed.
Just as he was planning to go out for a stroll and visit the Bravehearts Bar to replenish his revolver and ammunition, the crimson moonlight outside the bay window, tainted by the gas lamps, suddenly deepened and thickened!
Klein was startled and looked up. The clouds and mist in the mid-air had already scattered, and the red moon, slightly fuller than a semicircle, was clearly visible.
Its outline rapidly filled out. In just a second or two, it became a full moon. A full moon as red as blood!
And only a little over two weeks had passed since the last full moon!
According to the normal calendar and astronomical data, the next full moon was still ten days away!
Is this the «Blood Moon»? Klein’s lips moved slightly, and he muttered to himself in relief.
