Ugh, how infuriating.
I'm so irritated.
And it's all that damn dragon's fault.
Dragons were already grating on my nerves to begin with, but that attitude of his at the end...
Just remembering it makes me furious.
Who does he think he is, putting on airs as some kind of warrior?
Infuriating.
I'm so angry I've lost my appetite.
I don't even feel like eating that thing.
If I forced myself to eat it, I'd definitely just feel sick.
So I blew it away.
And I'm irritated by my own half-measures too.
In all honesty, finishing it off with Abyss Magic might have been the way Araba wanted to die.
But if I'd finished it with Abyss Magic, I wouldn't have gotten any Experience Points at all.
After working so hard to take it down, getting no reward would've been brutal.
I'm disgusted with my own selfish thoughts.
Ugh, I'm so irritated.
This is why I hate being too smart for my own good.
Being a dragon, it surely knew how the world worked.
And Araba died knowing full well what it meant.
Precisely because it understood, it died.
Man, that way of living was something else.
But hey, try being on the receiving end for once.
At this rate, it's not even a joke — this is practically mercy killing.
I feel awful.
To blow off some steam, I wander aimlessly through the Lower Layer.
I take it out on any Monster I come across.
That lifts my spirits a little.
Time to head back.
I'll drag the corpse of that Monster I just tore apart back to my home in the Upper Layer, stress-eat it, and sulk.
Oh, but before that, I need to protect the Ark's corpse with my threads.
Since I left it between the Middle and Upper Layers, Monsters from either side won't really come near it. Besides, Monsters from the Upper Layer would have to break through my home to even reach the Ark, so that's basically impossible.
As for the Middle Layer, I drop by regularly to build up my fire resistance, so most Monsters have probably stopped hanging around there. I think it should be fine.
Still, I just can't relax unless I protect my kills with thread.
So, along with the corpse of the Monster I just killed, I teleport to where the Ark is stored.
The moment I arrive, there are humans. Everywhere.
Huh?
Wait, where did all these people come from?
Don't tell me they figured out I was teleporting here and set up an ambush!
That doesn't seem to be the case.
Everyone's panicking and scrambling around in a total uproar.
What the heck are these people?
Oh, they're dressed similarly to those knight-types from before — members of their group, maybe?
I never did figure out why those other ones were here, and I have no clue why these ones showed up either.
If I'm not careful about how I kill them, the Administrator Guliedistiedes might show up to deal with me.
That'd be a pain.
Hmm?
Come to think of it, how did these guys even get here?
To reach this point, they should have had to break through My Home first.
Wait a second.
I've got a bad feeling about this.
Clairvoyance, activate.
My... My... MY HOME IS... !?
I-It's... it's BURNING!?
N-No... nooo...
Nothing's left.
The home I poured my heart and soul into building.
Reduced to a charred ruin.
What the hell happened?
Even with fire resistance, it's still weak against fire, huh.
Damn it!
These people, picking a fight when I'm already this pissed off!
Ugh, that's IT!
Who cares about Guliedistiedes anymore!
I'm not letting any of them leave alive!
Conveniently enough, they seem to be in the mood to fight too.
Great, they've even got their swords drawn.
Oh right, in Japan they'd call this self-defense, right?
"They attacked me first, so I fought back" — that'd fly, wouldn't it?
Guliedistiedes seems pretty lenient, so maybe she'd let it slide.
Once I've made up my mind, there's no holding back.
Let's kill them all!
Thirty-four in total.
Their Statuses are higher than those knights from before.
Averaging in the 400s.
Some of the higher-Stat ones are in the 500s.
And two of them stand out from the rest.
From the looks of it, one's a fighter type and the other's a magic type.
Oh wait, the fighter type has a Summoning Skill and whatnot.
Summoning is the advanced version of Taming, the Skill that lets you command Monsters.
It lets you call forth tamed Monsters from a distance and use a limited form of teleportation.
He also has Skills like Coordination and Command, so rather than a fighter, he might be better described as a Monster Tamer or Summoner.
The magic type is exactly what you'd expect.
Both Skills and Status scream "mage."
That said, his Status is considerably higher than the other humans, and his Skill selection is pretty robust too.
He gives off the vibe of a middle-aged man just short of being elderly, but appearances aside, he's got to be a serious powerhouse, right?
This old guy could probably take down a Mantis in the Lower Layer.
Hmm?
What's this unpleasant sensation?
At the same time as the strange feeling, a change appears in my Status.
Being Appraised?
That message suddenly displays in my Status.
Looking closer, even my Skills are flashing red.
Oh, so this means I'm being Appraised?
So this weird sensation I've been feeling this whole time is what being Appraised feels like?
Ugh, worst.
Stop peeping, you pervert.
If they can even Appraise the parts that are flashing red, their Level must be pretty high.
Hmph.
Ruler Authority, activate.
Appraisal Denied.
[Ruler Authority usage confirmed. Interfering with the effect of the Skill "Appraisal."] I never imagined I'd have to use my Ruler Authority for something like this.
I'd rather not since it eats into my Divine Domain usage, but having someone spy on me is pretty uncomfortable too.
So, the peeping culprit is that Summoner and Mage duo, huh.
Those two are definitely going down first.
Well then — guess it's time for a spider's first time killing humans.
