Description
Rest is the most influential trading company in the town of Momentum, closely tied to the local viscount and paying large membership fees to the trade guild. When Alan brings it a restored elixir, vice-president Kazan tries to buy it for a pittance and, refused, accuses the goods of being stolen.
The company then launches a whole campaign against Alan: it pressures the trade guild to stop buying from him, seizes his equipment from the smith, drives him out of the inns, and finally hires an assassin. Behind it all looms the figure of Viscount Momentum, who wants the hero's elixir.
Alan answers methodically and harshly: with Reversal he ruins all the goods in the Rest shop and debases the gold in their vault, plunging the company into a chaos of refunds and bankruptcy, then kills its head — Rest himself. Rest becomes Alan's first full-fledged act of revenge and a vivid lesson that he cannot be pushed around with impunity.
Downfall
Rest's greed — its attempt to seize the elixir and crush a nameless boy — turns into total ruin: spoiled goods, debased money, a customer riot, and the death of the company head. This episode sets the template for many of Alan's future conflicts with those who underestimate him.
