Royal Family
Description
The Royal Family is the ruling house of Yurgenschmidt, headed by the Zent, the country's king. In Rozemyne's time the throne is held by Zent Trauerqual, whose sons — the princes Sigiswald, Anastasius, and Hildebrand — and their wives sit at the center of the realm's politics.
The family governs from the Sovereignty and presides over the Royal Academy, where the archduke candidates of every duchy study. The civil war that preceded the story left the royal line weakened and reshaped, and questions of succession and legitimacy — bound up with a lost holy relic, the Grutrissheit — drive much of the wider conflict.
As an archduke candidate of Ehrenfest, Rozemyne is drawn into the royal family's orbit at the Royal Academy, where her scholarship, her mana, and her connection to the royal library bring her to the attention of princes and, ultimately, the throne itself.
